Handling

performance is one thing, but handling is the most impotant thing to me

A generous serving of power

A generous serving of power under the bonnet, and enough grip to put it down through the twists. Simple.

I agree however! with

I agree however! with previous issues of Torque steer on the older models and some recent models of both Opel and Vauxhall i think the above combination with elimination of torque steer could well make a demon of a vehicle!

I think handling, balance,

I think handling, balance, poise and grip are most important.

Even with an engine that lacks overall power, a chassis with the above, you'll be able to exploit it, press on, make progress and more importantly, enjoy the drive.

With more power like something along the lines of a VXR variant, with the handling, balance poise and grip, it'll be a very very enjoyable car to pilot.

I prefer driving enjoyment over everything else, if a car the car makes me smile, I'll be happy whether it's got 115PS or 325PS.

Torque steer is even enjoyable to an extent, when you press on, at the exit of a corner and the wheel is twitching, it puts you in touch with the car and the road, makes you feel like you're slicing through corners, wrestling the car, like you're doing the work and it's only you keeping the car on the road. Having a 'driving god' type feeling, is quite a good one!
