Vauxhall Brings Bike-Carrying into 2010
Vauxhall have solved the problem of how to transport your beloved bike. The new Astra is equipped with an ingenious bike carrier system called 'Flex-fix' which can carry two bikes without the cost, swearing and fuss which you may have previously experienced. This is great news for those who want to use their two-wheelies more often and more easily. Will more people be tempted to use their bicyles with it being so much more convenient to take them around? Read on for details of the 'Flex-fix'.
Vauxhall's bike-carrier is built into the rear bumper, being so cleverly integrated that it is almost invisible when not it use. It can be pulled out like a drawer (no tools necessary) and can be loaded with up with two bicycles of a maximum capacity of 40 kg.
Gizmag.com points out that durability is key to the design of the bike-carrier feature. The bike-carrier is made of galvanised steel with a resilient top coat ensuring it will last well.
It might be a lifesaver too if you run out of fuel north of the middle-of-nowhere (Yorkshire moors) and you need to get away from your fuming wife/husband.
