Return of the Trab - yea or nay?

East German carmaker Trabant stopped building their quirky little smokeboxes soon after the Berlin Wall fell, but toymaker Herpa now owns the brand and wants to bring it back to life... this time with all-electric propulsion.

They presented their concept, the Trabant nT, at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

U2 helped give the old Trabant cult status by hanging them from the set of their Zoo TV tour in 1992 (those cars are now to be found at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the USA), and you can even rent an original Trabi for a chug around Budapest.

The nT is cute as a button and got plenty of interest at the show, but is the revival of one of the worst cars ever really a good idea?

Thumbs Up

Good luck to them I reckon, it is one funky looking electric car and has plenty of potential providing it can be produced for a very keen price. Not sure about the Dick Dastardly moustache grille though.
